The Window Seat & Display Towers
The commission
A suite of built-ins for a Los Gatos foothill home — a cushioned window seat flanked by glass-front display towers, a walnut wet bar with antique-brass grille doors, and a gray-stained butler's pantry.
Built-in cabinetry is where a house stops feeling assembled and starts feeling made. For this Los Gatos home we took on a connected family of pieces: a three-drawer window seat with a tailored cushion, bracketed by floor-to-ceiling glass-front display towers; a walnut wet bar with antique-brass metal-grille doors, a mirrored back, and a fluted curved base; and a gray-stained butler's pantry with a recessed serving counter. Each was drawn to the architecture of the room it lives in and finished to sit as joinery, not furniture pushed against a wall.
